Tec Diving Classes

Tec 40

Purpose:	PADI Tec 40 course introduces divers to limited decompression diving within accepted recreational depth limits. Although the student who clearly intends to continue through Tec 50 is encouraged to complete Tec 40 in complete tec diving gear, the limits of the Tec 40 qualification allow more flexibility. Therefore, to accommodate divers interested in very limited tec diving, the Tec 40 equipment requirements are only a bit beyond those of the standard recreational kit.

Prerequisites:	Certification as PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent) Minimum age of 18 years old Certification as PADI Enriched Air Diver (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Deep Diver (or equivalent) Have a minimum of 50 logged dives, of which at least - 10 dives must be on enriched air - 12 dives must be deeper than 18 metres/60 feet - 6 dives must be deeper than 30 metres/100 feet Have a medical form signed by your physician

Duration:	Each section of the course will require 3-4 days of diving (including pool and open water sessions), 2-3 academic sessions, and 2 or more equipment configuration sessions.

Depth Range:	Dive 1: 0-30 Dive 2: 30-60 Dive 3: 50-90 Dive 4: 85-130

Limits:	Use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with not more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 metres/130 feet. Use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen (EANx50) to add conservatism to the required decompression. The Tec 40 course consists of knowledge development, three practical application sessions, one confined or limited open water dive, two open water no stop dives (simulated decompression) and one open water decompression dive.

Tec 45

Purpose:	PADI Tec 45 course provides a transitional qualification while continuing to develop as a technical diver. The equipment requirements are the same as for the Tec Deep Diver Course. This diver is qualified to make limited technical decompression dives using the equipment and the procedures used at the Tec Deep Diver level. However, qualifications are narrow, reflecting comparatively limited training and experience. The expectation is that a Tec 45 diver plans to continue on to Tec 50.

Prerequisites:	Certification as PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) Minimum age of 18 years old Certification as PADI Enriched Air Diver (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Deep Diver (or equivalent) PADI Tec 40 (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization) Have a minimum of 50 logged dives, of which at least: - 12 dives were made with enriched air nitrox deeper than 18 metres/60 feet - 6 (with or without EANx) dives were deeper than 30 metres/100 feet Have a medical statement signed by a physician

Duration:	Each section of the course will require 3-4 days of diving (including pool and open water sessions), 2-3 academic sessions, and 2 or more equipment configuration sessions.

Depth Range:	Dive 1: 8-30 Dive 2: 40-60 Dive 3: 60-100 Dive 4: 90-145

Limits:	Make single and repetitive dives to a maximum depth of 45 metres/145 feet. Use a single decompression gas of EANx, or oxygen, to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression. In addition to the Tec 40 course requirements, the Tec 45 course consists of knowledge development, three practical application sessions, one confined or limited open water dive, two open water no stop dives (simulated decompression) and one open water decompression dive.

Tec 50

Purpose:	PADI Tec 50 course is the complete, entry-level skill set for extensive open circuit deep decompression tec diving (formerly Tec Deep Diver). The diver is qualified to make technical decompression dives within the limits of training and equipment.

Prerequisites:	Certification as PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) Minimum age of 18 years old Certification as PADI Enriched Air Diver (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Deep Diver (or equivalent) DSAT Tec 45 Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization) Have a minimum of 100 logged dives, of which - 20 dives must be enriched air dives - 25 dives must be deeper than 18 metres/60 feet - at least 20 dives must be deeper than 30 metres/100 feet Have a medical statement signed by your physician

Duration:	Each section of the course will require 3-4 days of diving (including pool and open water sessions), 2-3 academic sessions, and 2 or more equipment configuration sessions.

Limits:	Use air, EANx and oxygen for multiple stop decompression dives as deep as 50 metres/165 feet using standard open circuit, multiple cylinder (backmount and/or sidemount) tec diving equipment. Use two decompression gases (EANx and/or oxygen) to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression. In addition to the Tec 45 course requirements, the Tec 50 course consists of knowledge development, two practical application sessions, two open water no stop dives (simulated decompression) and two open water decompression dives.

Tec Trimix 65

Purpose:	PADI Tec Trimix 65 course is a new, intermediate level trimix course that is an option for Tec Trimix Instructors. Tec Trimix 65 extends Tec 50 and bridges to the full Tec Trimix Diver certification. The Tec Trimix 65 diver is qualified to make technical decompression dives within the limits of training and equipment.

Prerequisites:	Be a PADI Rescue Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization and having proof of CPR and first aid training with the previous two years) Be certified as a Tec 50 (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization) Be at least 18 years old Have logged at least 100 dives Have a medical form signed by your physician.

Duration:	Each section of the course will require 3-4 days of diving (including pool and open water sessions), 2-3 academic sessions, and 2 or more equipment configuration sessions.

Depth Range:	Tec 65 Dive 1: 0-30 Dive 2: 90-165 Dive 3: 100-165 Dive 4: 130-185 Dive 5: 150-210 Trimix Dive 6: 180-230 Dive 7: 215-265 Dive 8: 245-300

Limits:	Use air, EANx, oxygen and trimix with 18% or more oxygen for multiple stop decompression dives as deep as 65 metres/210 feet using standard open circuit, multiple cylinder (backmount and/or sidemount) tec diving equipment. Use two decompression gases (EANx and/or oxygen) to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression. In addition to the Tec 50 course requirements, the Tec Trimix 65 course consists of additional knowledge development, practical application and an open water no stop dive (simulated trimix decompression). The final open water decompression trimix dive may be combined with the final dive of the Tec 50 course. Tec 1

Purpose:	Tec Diver Level 1 is your introduction to Technical Diving.

Prerequisites:	Certification as PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) Minimum age of 18 years old Certification as PADI Enriched Air Diver (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Deep Diver (or equivalent) Or have 20 logged dives deeper than 100’ At least 100 logged dives, with at least 20 dives made with Enriched Air, 25 dives deeper than 60 feet and 15 dives deeper than 100 feet.






Duration:	Each section of the course will require 3-4 days of diving (including pool and open water sessions), 2-3 academic sessions, and 2 or more equipment configuration sessions.

Limits:	You'll learn to make gas-switch, extended no-decompression dives using air and enriched air to 40 metres/130 feet. You'll also prepare for and respond to foreseeable technical diving emergencies. Since it is part of the Tec Deep Diver course, you DSAT Tec Diver Level 1 course training will credit towards the DSAT Tec Deep Diver course.

Tec Deep

Purpose:	The Tec Deep Diver course qualifies you to conduct decompression dives up to 165' using Air and Enriched Air.

Prerequisites:	Certification as PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) Tec 1 or equivalent Minimum age of 18 years old Certification as PADI Enriched Air Diver (or equivalent) Certification as PADI Deep Diver (or equivalent), or have 20 logged dives deeper than 100’ At least 100 logged dives, with at least 20 dives made with Enriched Air, 25 dives deeper than 60' and 15 dives deeper than 100'.

Limits:	After successful completion of the DSAT Tec Deep Diver course you'll be able to conduct gas-switch extended no-decompression dives, decompression dives and accelerated decompression dives using air and enriched air to a depth of 50 metres/165 feet. You'll also understand the hazards and risks involved in technical diving, as well as how to prepare for and handle reasonable foreseeable technical diving emergencies.

Tec Trimix Diver

Purpose:	For the extreme diver ready to further explore the world of technical deep diving, the gas of choice is trimix. The Tec Trimix Diver course takes you to the outer edges of technical deep diving, and opens the door to pristine dive sites few divers - if any - ever see.

Prerequisites:	Certification as a PADI Rescue Diver or a qualifying certification in diver rescue and accident management from another organization (Students who meet this through a qualifying non-PADI certification need to provide proof of CPR and first aid training within the previous two years.) Certification as a DSAT Tec Deep Diver or a qualifying certification in deep decompression diving using air/enriched air from another organization (Students who qualify through a certification other than DSAT Tec Deep Diver must read the entire DSAT Tec Deep Diver Manual and complete the Knowledge Reviews before beginning the Tec Trimix Diver course)





Duration:	This course is conducted over a period of 4-5 days.

Limits:	The Trimix Diver course is intended to extend the available depth range for technical divers who are already trained and qualified to use air, enriched air, and oxygen for technical decompression dives to depths beyond 50 metres/165 feet in open water. The Trimix Diver course is intended for technical divers certified as DSAT Tec Deep Divers (or with an equivalent qualifying certification from another training organization). The course extends their depth range capabilities by training them in the use of trimix (a gas mix of helium, oxygen, and nitrogen).

Requirements:	Each diver will be required to have a complete set of personal dive equipment, including:

Tec Deep Instructor

Purpose:	For those serious about joining the ranks of DSAT technical instructors, the Tec Deep Diver Instructor course is an obvious choice. The DSAT Tec Deep Diver Instructor course incorporates instructional philosophies and course goals that directly address the demanding and challenging nature of technical diving.

Prerequisites:	At least PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification PADI Enriched Air Diver certification or equivalent certification from another certification organization PADI Enriched Air Diver Instructor certification or equivalent certification from another certification organization PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course Instructor certification or equivalent certification from another certification organization DSAT Tec Deep Diver certification or qualifying certification from another certification organization A minimum of 100 logged dives, with at least 20 enriched air nitrox dives, at least 25 dives deeper than 18 metres/60 feet, and at least 15 dives deeper than 30 metres/100 feet






Duration:	The DSAT Tec Deep Diver Instructor course can take from one week to three months.

Limits:	The DSAT Tec Deep Instructor course prepares candidates to teach the Tec Deep Diver course and also addresses the philosophy, organization, practical considerations, promotion and other aspects of teaching the Tec Deep Diver course.

	After completing all of the requirements, Tec Deep Instructors are qualified to:

Tec Trimix Instructor

Purpose:	Tec Trimix divers explore the outer edges of technical deep diving. If you are both a Tec Deep Instructor and Tec Trimix Diver, then the DSAT Tec Trimix Instructor course is for you. The DSAT Trimix Diver Instructor course incorporates instructional philosophies and course goals that directly address the demanding and challenging nature of technical diving with helium gas mixes.

Prerequisites:	A minimum of 200 logged dives with at least 20 technical decompression dives that required at least one stage/decompression cylinder. Of these, at least 10 dives must have been made deeper than 40 metres/130 feet using trimix. Be a DSAT Tec Deep Instructor, or have successfully completed the DSAT Tec Deep Instructor training course including the instructor examinations Be a renewed PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer or a higher level PADI Instructor Be certified as a DSAT Trimix Diver or have an equivalent full trimix certification






Duration:	The duration of the course depends on your previous experience, especially if you are already a Tec Trimix Diver, Trimix Instructor from another organization, or Trimix Diver from another organization. The course typically lasts from a few days to a few weeks.

Limits:	As a Tec Trimix Instructor you'll be one of the elite who can teach the Tec Trimix Diver course. During the course you'll learn how to teach diving at the cutting edge down to a depth of 75 metres/240 feet.

Requirements:	Each diver will be required to have a complete set of personal dive equipment, including:
